The upcoming two-part Sailor Moon Cosmos anime film has revealed the cast lineup for the Sailor Starlights characters. Both films will premiere later this year – on June 9 and June 30 respectively.
The Sailor Starlights cast includes Saori Hayami as Taiki Ko (Sailor Star Maker), Marina Inoue as Seiya Ko (Sailor Star Fighter), and Ayane Sakura as Yaten Ko (Sailor Star Healer). Previously announced cast members include:
- Kotono Mitsuishi as Sailor Moon/Usagi Tsukino
- Misato Fukuen as Sailor Chibi Moon
- Shizuka Ito as Minako Aino
- Reina Ueda as CereCere
- Kenji Nojima as Mamoru Chiba
- Rina Sato as Rei Hino
- Sayaka Ohara as Michiru Kaio
- Ami Koshimizu as Makoto Kino
Toei Animation and Studio DEEN will be animating the film, with Tomoya Takahashi as the director. Kazuyuki Fudeyasu is responsible for the screenplay, with Kazuko Tadano on the character designs, Yumiko Kuga is the art director, and Yasuharu Takanashi composing the music.
The upcoming Sailor Moon Cosmos film follows the 2021 Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon Eternal: The Movie. These films are part of the new anime adaptation called Sailor Moon Crystal. Prior to the films, three seasons were released namely Dark Kingdom (July 2014-January 2015), Black Moon (February 2015-July 2015), and Death Busters (April 2016-June 2016).
The Sailor Moon franchise started with a manga by Naoko Takeuchi. The manga was serialized in Kodansha’s Nakayoshi magazine from 1991 to 1997. The anime adaptation by Toei Animation premiered in 1992 and aired until 1997 includes Sailor Moon (1992–93), Sailor Moon R (1993–94), Sailor Moon S (1994–95), Sailor Moon SuperS (1995–96), and Sailor Moon Sailor Stars (1996–97). In 2022, the Sailor Moon franchise celebrated its 30th anniversary.
