A new trailer and additional cast members for the Sakamoto Days anime were revealed during Jump Festa 2025. Hiroki Yasumoto is joining the cast as Hyo, Hochu Otsuka as Takamura, and Daisuke Namikawa as X/Slur. The new trailer features the ending theme “Futsuu” by Conton Candy.

Studio TMS Entertainment is handling the animation production. Sakamoto Days will have a two-episode premiere on January 11, 2025, and will be streaming on Netflix. The English subbed version of the first main trailer for the anime was released earlier this month featuring the opening theme song “RUN SAKAMOTO RUN” by Vaundy.
The main cast for the anime include:
- Tomokazu Sugita as Taro Sakamoto
- Nobunaga Shimazaki as Shin Asakura
- Ayane Sakura as Lu Xiaotang
- Nao Toyama as Aoi Sakamoto
- Hina Kino as Hana Sakamoto
- Ryota Suzuki as Heisuke Mashimo
- Miyari Nemoto as Piisuke
Masaki Watanabe is directing the Sakamoto Days anime with studio TMS Entertainment handling the animation production. Yuto Suzuki is in charge of the script while Taku Kishimoto is in charge of the series composition. Yo Moriyama is handling the character designs.
The anime is based on the manga written and illustrated by Yuto Suzuki. The weekly series has released a total of 194 chapters and 19 volumes. VIZ Media licenses the series in English and has published the first 14 volumes. Sakamoto Days currently has 5.5 million volumes in circulation as of December 2024.
VIZ Media describes the plot as:
Time has passed peacefully for Sakamoto since he left the underworld. He’s running a neighborhood store with his lovely wife and child and has gotten a bit…out of shape. But one day a figure from his past pays him a visit with an offer he can’t refuse: return to the assassin world or die!
