We are all excited for the 2021 remake of the awesome Shaman King anime and the return of Asakura Yoh and co. It was announced back in June of this year, and the fans have been hyped ever since. As per the official website, it will arrive sometime in April next year. Now, however, the official Twitter account for the franchise has shared a new short video. It focuses on the main character, Asakura Yoh, and you can check it out here:
This first trailer features Yoh and Amidamaru, but the others should follow soon. Can’t wait to see some more of Anna and Hao!
Anyway, in case someone reading doesn’t know. Shaman King is a manga series written and illustrated by Hiroyuki Takei. It was serialized in Weekly Shōnen Jump from June 30, 1998 to August 30, 2004. The manga also inspired an anime which ran through 2001-2002, but it didn’t adapt the whole thing and changed parts of the story. Some more from the director of the 2001 version here.
The remake set for April 2021 will adapt the full length of the manga. That means all 35 volumes, which weren’t finished at the time the original was airing. It also received a new promotional video, which features updated animation. It looks very promising! Check it out here:
Anna [Hayashibara Megumi, Hao [Takayama Minami] and Amidamaru [Konishi, Katsuyuki] will have their voice actors reprising their roles. However, Asakura Yoh will be voiced by Hikasa Yoko in the Shaman King remake (was voiced by Satou Yuuko in the 2001 version).
2021 is already looking great for anime, and Shaman King is only one of many shows to look forward to! BLEACH is also coming back..
