Shangri-La Frontier Season 3 revealed the first key visual, confirming two consecutive cours and a January 10, 2027 premiere date. The anime is set to continue with the Galaxia Heroes: Chaos action, which was previously teased in a trailer.
Studio C2C is again in charge of the animation. The anime was announced alongside the franchise’s first game adaptation immediately after the second season’s finale. You can see the new key visual below.
The first season of Shangri-La Frontier ran for 2 consecutive cours from October to March 2023, with the sequel going from October to March 2024. Returning to direct the sequel was Toshiyuki Kubooka, along with Kurashima Ayumi as the character designer and chief animation director, Kazuyuki Fudeyasu was charge of the series composition, and the trio of Hirokawa Keiichi, Takada Ryuichi amd Takahashi Kuniyuki was in charge of the music. The second season previously introduced new cast and characters through some other big arcs, including the Nephilim Hollow Arc (Rie Takahashi as Rust and Kaito Ishikawa as Mordo), Abyss City Arc (Aki Kanada as Stude and Toru Sakurai as Araba), and GGC Arc (Yumi Uchiyama as Megumi Natsume and Minami Takahashi as Silvia Goldberg). The main voice cast for the anime consists of:
- Yuma Uchida as Sunraku/Rakuro Hizutome
- Azumi Waki as Psyger-0/Rei Saiga
- Yoko Hikasa as Arthur Pencilgon/Towa Amane
- Makoto Koichi as Oicazzo/Kei Uomi
- Rina Hidaka as Emul
- Akio Otsuka as Vysache
The original Shangri-La Frontier manga by Ryosuke Fuji (art) and Katarina (story) adapts the web novel by the latter, which has been serialized on the Shosetsuka ni Naro website since May 2017. The manga adaptation is published in Kodansha’s Weekly Shonen Magazine, and it was also licensed in English by Kodansha USA.
The story follows Rakuro Hizutome, a player going by the name of Sunraku, who loves playing ‘shitty games’ and beating them despite all their bugs and flaws. He then finds a ‘god-tier’ game, Shangri-La Frontier, which he then learns to enjoy, meeting some old gamer friends and looking forward to discovering the most interesting features in the huge world and beating the strongest opponents.
