The official Kadokawa YouTube channel released a character trailer of Naofumi Iwatani, the protagonist of “The Rising of the Shield Hero” anime. What’s more, the 2nd season of the show will premiere in April 2022.

Also, an official Instagram for the show has been created to celebrate the rebroadcast of the first season. The official Twitter account for the series announced that it is to commemorate the rebroadcast of the anime in Japan. The rebroadcast started on September 29, 2021.

The rebroadcast of the anime will air TOKYO MX and BS 11.
Aneko Yusagi wrote the original Japanese novel series back in 2012 and finished it in 2015. Media Factory started publishing the light novel adaptation in August 2013 with Seira Minami’s illustration and it currently has 22 volumes available. The franchise also has a manga adaptation by Aiya Kyū, serialized by the same publisher since February 2014. As of now, the manga adaptation has 19 volumes.
Then, an anime adaptation with a total of 25 episodes aired in 2019. Takao Abo (Norn9) directed the first season and Kinema Citrus (Made in Abyss) took care of the production. Masato Jinbo (Restaurant to Another World) will be directing season 2 with DR Movie (Elsword) studio producing the show.

Iwatani Naofumi, a run-of-the-mill otaku, finds a book in the library that summons him to another world. He is tasked with joining the sword, spear, and bow as one of the Four Cardinal Heroes and fighting the Waves of Catastrophe as the Shield Hero. Excited by the prospect of a grand adventure, Naofumi sets off with his party. However, merely a few days later, he is betrayed and loses all his money, dignity, and respect.
