Magnetic Press and Oni Press have released Shin Zero Book 1, a 216-page graphic novel launching a new kaiju and Super Sentai-inspired series from Mathieu Bablet and Guillaume Singelin.
Anime Corner can exclusively share a preview at the volume below as it hits bookstores today.
Synopsis: Twenty years ago, the last Kaiju, a giant monster from the sea, was defeated by the Sentai, a group of colorful vigilantes. Today, the Sentai are mere shadows of their former selves, relegated to low-paying odd jobs. Warren, Nikki, Heloise, Satoshi, and Sofia try to find their place in this disillusioned world where heroes have disappeared . . .
Bablet is known for large-scale speculative works including Shangri La and Carbon & Silicon, the latter named Best Graphic Novel of 2020 by FNAC and nominated by the Association of Comic Book Critics and Journalists. His work often centers on expansive worldbuilding paired with philosophical themes.
Singelin, whose credits include PTSD and contributions to DC titles such as Batman: Urban Legends and DC Vampires, brings a distinctive visual style that combines manga-influenced character design with detailed, grounded environments. His background also spans animation and video games, including work connected to Mutafukaz and Citizen Sleeper.
