MADHOUSE’S Sonny Boy revealed a new PV, as well as a new key visual today. The anime will begin airing on July 15th, 2021.
The first Sonny Boy PV features music by VIDEOTAPEMUSIC, as well as the opening song for the anime, which will be performed by Ging Nang Boyz. The PV explores the world setting and introduces characters. You can watch the full Sonny Boy PV below:
Studio MADHOUSE (No Game No Life) is producing the anime. Shingo Natsume (One Punch Man) is directing and writing the script for the Sonny Boy anime, while Hisashi Eguchi (Perfect Blue) is doing the original character designs. Shinichiro Watanabe is supervising the soundtrack. The story is an original work.
The cast was previously revealed and includes Aoi Ichikawa as Nagara, a third-year middle school student. Aoi Yuuki, Saori Onishi, and Chiaki Kobayashi are voicing three transfer students – Mizuho, Nozomi, and Asakaze respectively.
The plot focuses on a group of middle school students who find themselves in another dimension. Chaos ensues after they realize they gained mysterious abilities. Some fight for power, while others try to find a way back to their world. But, something more sinister is at play and soon they will be fighting for their lives.
