The upcoming Sound! Euphonium, The Final Movie Part 1 revealed a new trailer alongside a visual and an April 24, 2026 premiere date at “The World of Sound! Euphonium” stage at Kyoto Animation’s fan event held on Sunday.
Taichi Ogawa is directing the movie, while Tatsuya Ishihara is the chief director. Jukki Hanada writing the script and series composition, and Shoko Ikeda and Kazumi Ikeda are handling the character designs. Akito Matsuda is composing the music. The cast includes:
- Tomoyo Kurosawa as Kumiko Oumae
- Chika Anzai as Reina Kosaka
- Ayaka Asai as Hazuki Kato
- Moe Toyota as Sapphire Kawashima
- Haruka Tomatsu as Mayu Kuroe
- Takahiro Sakurai as Noboru Taki
The anime is based on a light novel series written by Ayano Takeda and illustrated by Nikki Asada. Takarajimasha published the novel, which ran from December 2013 until June 2024, with a total of 14 volumes released. There is also a 3-volume manga by Hami.
The first season of the anime premiered in 2015, while the second season debuted in 2016, and the third season was broadcasted in 2024, concluding in June of that year. There were also two movies between the first and second TV anime seasons—Sound Euphonium: Our Promise: A Brand New Day (2019) and Sound Euphonium: Ensemble Contest Arc (2023). Crunchyroll is streaming all three seasons of the series, describing it as follows:
Spring in the first year of high school. Kumiko, a member of the brass band in junior high school, visits the high school brass band club with classmates Hazuki and Sapphire. There, she comes across Reina, her former classmate from junior high. Hazuki and Sapphire decide to join the club, but Kumiko can’t make up her mind. She recollects her experience with Reina at a competition in junior high school.
