Spy x Family Author Reacts to Twitter “DamiAnya” Trend

On May 21 at 11 p.m., Spy x Family’s 7th episode went on air, and the anime saw characters Anya Forger and Damian Desmond, trending as ダミアニャ (literally DamiAnya or Damianya, a combination of Dami for Damian, and Anya in short) on Twitter in Japan.

It seems that caught the manga’s author, Tatsuya Endo‘s attention, and he posted a doodle of Anya along with a picture that shows 73,429 tweets under the DamiAnya trend. Below the screenshot, Endo drew a simple illustration of Anya who is saying: “Japan is at peace.”

His tweet may have boosted the growing number to 87.4K tweets as of writing this article.

Before episode 7 premiered, the anime’s official Twitter account released a teaser visual for the episode, where Loid Forger tries to oversee Anya’s apology mission. After the episode ended in Japan, the account introduced a new character Yuri Briar, Yor Forger’s brother, who is voiced by Kensho Ono.

Tatsuya Endo’s spy and family-themed manga began its serialization on March 25, 2019, and has so far released 9 compiled volumes that sold over 18 million copies as of May 9, 2022.
