The anime adaptation of Sugar Apple Fairy Tale revealed a visual, along with a 2023 premiere date. The anime was announced in October of this year. The trailer also features the cast:
- Yuka Nukui as Ann Halford
- Masaki Mizunaka as Shall Fen Shall
- Tomoaki Maeno as Hugh
- Rie Takahashi as Mithril
The staff includes Yohei Suzuki as the director and Seishi Minakami on the series composition. Iizuka Haruko will be doing character designs, while Flying Dog is in charge of the music. A visual was also revealed:
Studio J.C. Staff will be animating the series that is based on Miri Mikawa’s light novels, which were illustrated by Aki. The light novel has been serialized from 2010 to 2015 in the Kadokawa Beans Bunko imprint. A manga adaptation by Alto Yukimura was serialized on Hakusensha’s Hana to Yume Online website from 2012 to 2014. A second manga, which began in 2021, is currently ongoing in Young Ace magazine and it features art by Yozora no Udon.
Yen Press licensed both the light novel and 2021 manga in English and describes the plot as:
Anne Halford is a candy crafter determined to follow in her mother’s footsteps and become a Silver Sugar Master, a title bestowed only by royalty. In order to travel to the capital and realize her dream, she purchases Challe, a handsome but foul-mouthed fairy, as her bodyguard. Anne wishes to befriend her new companion, but in this kingdom where fairies are treated as property, Challe wants nothing to do with humans. Will this journey with Anne change his mind…?
