Sword Art Online: Progressive - Scherzo of Deep Night Reveals Trailer Ft. Laughing Coffin

The upcoming Sword Art Online: Progressive -Scherzo of Deep Night- anime film has received a trailer that features the murderer guild, “Laughing Coffin”, during a special program that was held in Japan. The movie will premiere on September 10, 2022, in Japan. You can watch the video below:

Yoshitsugu Matsuoka and Haruka Tomatsu are reprising their roles as Kirito and Asuna. Shiori Izawa will also return to the franchise to voice Argo, who first appeared in episode 3 of the original Sword Art Online anime series.

Sword Art Online: Progressive -Scherzo of Deep Night- is the second film installment of the SAO Progressive light novel series. Ayako Kono is directing the movie at A-1 Pictures. The same director and studio also worked on the first movie, titled Sword Art Online: Progressive -Aria of a Starless Night-. It premiered on October 31, 2022, in IMAX theatres nationwide in Japan. The film also premiered in more than 40 countries around the world.

The movie is based on Reki Kawahara’s Sword Art Online: Progressive light novel series. ASCII Media Works has been serializing it since 2012. and it currently has 8 volumes in circulation. The movie will adapt the fourth volume of the light novel series. Yen Press is publishing the Sword Art Online: progressive light novel series in English. The movie will cover the events from the 4th volume and onwards:
It’s been just two months since they were trapped in the game of death that is Sword Art Online, and Kirito and Asuna continue their struggle at the vanguard of progress through the game.
