On the official site for the “Kanojo, Okarishimasu” franchise, a short video for the song “Sakura Selfish” was released. It’s the character song for Sakurasawa Sumi, and the performer is the character’s adorable voice actress, Takahashi Rie. The Sumi song will be included in the fourth volume of the Blu-ray edition, along with a picture book and a CD with the project’s soundtrack.
Check out the song below:
The volume will release on October 28 in Japan and cost 9,500 yen (approximately $90). Unlike Mami-chan, whom a lot fans seem to dislike, many wholeheartedly adore Sumi (and Rieri as well). Here’s the beautiful cover of the volume featuring the shy girlfriend:
The first season of the anime premiered in Japan on July 10, and was an adaptation of Miyajima Reiji’s manga of the same name. It was enjoying big popularity, as it even ranked #1 on Anime Corner’s weekly poll back when it was airing (votes by ~7000 people). Furthermore, it beat big shows like Re:Zero and Sword Art Online to do it! In addition, there have been multiple events for the franchise, such as pop-up stores. Official accounts also confirmed the production of a second season of the anime.
The synopsis of the story:
In Japan, the lonely have a new way out — online services that rent out dads, children, even girlfriends! When Kazuya’s true love dumps him, he’s just desperate enough to try it, and he’s shocked at how cute and sweet his rental girlfriend turns out to be. But she wants to keep their “relationship” a secret, and there’s a complication… she goes to his university… and their grandmothers are in the same home… and they live next door to each other?! Kazuya finds out she’s not nearly as nice in “real life”…
The Sumi song is just as adorable as she is, and I’m looking forward to seeing her character development in the future!
