The That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime (TenSura) light novels by Fuse (story) and Mitz Vah (art) will conclude on November 29 with Volume 23, marking an end to over 11 years serialization by publisher Micro Magazine, and the end to the best-selling series of all time to have originated from a light novel. You can check out Volume 23’s cover below.
In addition to TenSura‘s conclusion, the first published spin-off novel will be released on the same day (Fuse is writing a spin-off series on the self-publishing platform Shosetsuka ni Narou). The main story’s final twenty-third volume will also receive a special edition, featuring illustrations, an acrylic panel, and postcards. The spin-off volume’s cover is below.
Author Fuse had confirmed their intention to end the series this year, adding that the plan was to do so in Volume 22 but more ideas kept coming. While the light novel is ending, big plans are ahead for the anime. Movie 4 will be released on February 27, 2026, while Season 4 is in development.
That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime is the best-selling light novel franchise of all time, with 45 million copies in circulation across its publications. Fuse is responsible for the story while Mitz Vah handles the art. Fuse originally wrote the series on the self-publishing platform Shosetsuka ni Narou from 2013 to 2016. Micro Magazine picked up the series in 2014. It’s since spawned games, anime (animation production by studio 8-bit), and multiple manga adaptations (of which, the main one is published by Kodansha). Yen Press licenses the English version of That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime:
Lonely thirty-seven-year-old Satoru Mikami is stuck in a dead-end job, unhappy with his mundane life, but after dying at the hands of a robber, he awakens to a fresh start in a fantasy realm…as a slime monster! As he acclimates to his goopy new existence, his exploits with the other monsters set off a chain of events that will change his new world forever!
