The Apothecary Diaries (Kusuriya no Hitorigoto) anime series has revealed the preview of its 7th episode. The episode is titled “Homecoming” and it will air on November 18. TOHO Animation Studio and OLM are animating the adaptation. The episode is summarized as:
One morning, after the events of the garden party, Maomao received a request from Gaoshun to investigate a container that had poison. She noticed that Concubine Lishu was being bullied by her maids. Maomao has also heard from Xiaolan that by using the hairpins she received from the Garden Part, she can leave the inner palace and thought of using that chance to go home. However, Jinshi, who was troubled by the incidents that were occurring one after another, went to visit Maomao, not knowing that she had already left the palace.
The Apothecary Diaries is a light novel series written by Natsu Hyuga and illustrated by Toko Shino. It inspired a manga adaptation, with art by Nekokurage and story by Itsuki Nanao. The light novel series is serialized by Shufunotomo while the manga is published by Square Enix and is serialized in Monthly Big GanGan.
The series also inspired a short min-anime series called Maomao’s Diaries (Maomao no Hitorigoto) starring the main character, Maomao as she explains the main items that were shown during the current episode. There are currently six episodes in the mini-series. Maomao’s Diaries mini-anime series can be seen on TOHO Animation’s official YouTube channel.
The Apothecary Diaries anime series is streaming on Crunchyroll. The platform describes the plot as:
Maomao lived a peaceful life with her apothecary father. Until one day, she’s sold as a lowly servant to the emperor’s palace. But she wasn’t meant for a compliant life among royalty. So when imperial heirs fall ill, she decides to step in and find a cure! This catches the eye of Jinshi, a handsome palace official who promotes her.
