The Café Terrace and Its Goddesses by Koji Seo has been serialized in Kodansha’s Weekly Shonen Magazine since February 2021, and as of writing boasts 16 tankōbon volumes. The second season of the show is animated by Tezuka Productions. It has Satoshi Kuwabara as its director and Satoshi Motoyama as its sound director. Keiichirou Oochi handles the show’s script and series composition, with additional script duties by Mayumi Morita.

The show’s opening theme is “Charge” by Hikari Koama and the ending is “Nacchatta!” by Aglio Olio e Peperoncino. The main voice cast of the show includes;

  • Asami Seto as Akane Hououji
  • Azumi Waki as Shiragiku Ono
  • Aya Yamane as Riho Tuskishima
  • Masaaki Mizunaka as Hayato Kasukabe
  • Ruriko Aoki as Ouka Makuzawa
  • Sayumi Suzushiro as Ami Tsuruga

When both his parents die in an accident, the young Hayato Kasukabe is taken in and raised by his grandmother, who lives in Mirua (Kanagawa) and runs a struggling diner-styled café named The Café Terrace. Years later, Hayato, now a University of Tokyo alumni, returns home when he’s informed of his grandmother’s passing.

When he returns to Mirua to attend to his grandmother’s estate and sell her struggling café, he’s surprised to discover that 5 young women have been living in his childhood home. Not only were they in his grandmother’s care, but they worked for her café. As he tried to throw them out like you’d throw out 2-week-old shrimp scampi, he realized these girls and the run-down café they love was the best way to pay homage to the person who raised him. As such, under his leadership, The Café Terrace has reopened again, but it’s far from smooth sailing.
