The previously announced The Detective Is Already Dead Season 2 has been delayed from July 2026 to October 2026 due to production circumstances. The staff then apologized for the inconvenience and concern caused to everyone who had been looking forward to the broadcast.
Studio ENGI is animating the sequel with Manabu Kurihara as director. Other returning staff include Deko Akao as scriptwriter and Yosuke Ito as the character designer. The cast includes:
- Saki Miyashita as Siesta
- Ayana Taketatsu as Nagisa Natsunagi
- Kanon Tako as Yui Saikawa
- Saho Shirasu as Charlotte Arisaka Anderson
- Arata Nagai as Kimihiko Kimizuka
The Detective is Already Dead is a light novel series written by Nigozyu, with illustrations by Umibozu. Media Factory started publishing the series in November 2019. The series also has 2 manga adaptations: one by Mugiko (2020-2023) and one by Poni (2021-2022).
Yen Press licensed the light novel series in English. Crunchyroll streams the anime, describing the story:
