The Elusive Samurai anime had a recap episode today, but they also revealed a short trailer for Ayako Mochizuki, another one of Tokiyuki’s loyal retainers. Sayumi Suzushiro voices Ayako in the anime, and you can check out some of her highlights below.
Prior to this one, character trailers were also revealed for Shizuku and Kojiro. The anime will continue with Episode 10 on September 14. Studio CloverWorks is in charge of the animation, with Yuta Yamazaki as the director. The voice cast consists of:
- Asaki Yuikawa as Tokiyuki Hojo
- Yuichi Nakamura as Yorishige Suwa
- Hinaki Yano as Shizuku
- Mari Hino as Kojiro
- Sayumi Suzushiro as Ayako
- Aoi Yuki as Genba Kazama
- Kikunosuke Toya as Fubuki
- Katsuyuki Konishi as Takauji Ashikaga
Yusei Matsui, known as the creator of The Assassination Classroom, writes and draws The Elusive Samurai. The manga has been serialized in Shueisha’s Weekly Shounen Jump since 2021, while Viz Media is publishing it in English.
The story follows Tokiyuki Hojo on a path to revenge after his family is slaughtered by a traitor. He is helped by a clairvoyant Yorishige Suwa, who supports him on his path to becoming the ruler of Japan along with his increasing retainers.
