The Fable is based on the manga series of the same name, written and illustrated by Katsuhisa Minami. It was serialized in Kodansha’s Weekly Young Magazine from November 2014 to November 2019. A sequel titled The Fable: The Second Contact started in Weekly Young Magazine in July 2021. Kodansha USA has licensed the manga in English:
When you’re the infamous “genius killer” hitman The Fable, many things come easy. Being a normal person, however, isn’t one of them. In fact, being told that he can’t kill anyone for a while may just be the hardest job he’s ever taken…
The manga received a live-action film adaptation in June 2019, starring Junichi Okada, Fumino Kimura, Mizuki Yamamoto, and Kai Iwonaki, to name a few. The film is available for viewing on Netflix. A sequel film titled The Fable: A Hitman Who Doesn’t Kill premiered on June 18, 2021.
