The Irregular at Magic High School Season 3 revealed a new trailer and visual for the Double Seven arc, which is the first of 3 parts. The announcement came at the show’s Anime Japan 2024 stage. Studio 8bit is in charge of the animation, and the anime will premiere on April 5. The trailer features the ending theme song “recall” by Kairi Yagi.
The third season of the anime was confirmed last year: it was initially announced as a new project for the franchise. It will cover three arcs: Double Seven, Steeplechase, and Ancient City Insurrection. Each of them will have a different ending song. Besides Kairi Yagi for the first one, Sangatsu no Phantasia will perform the ending song for the Steeplechase arc, and ASCA will perform the ending song for the Ancient City Insurrection arc.
Jimmy Stone is directing the new anime series at studio 8Bit. Kana Ishida is in charge of the character designs, Taku Iwasaki is working on the music, and Muneo Nakamoto is in charge of the script. LiSA is performing the new opening theme song “Shouted Serenade.”
The Irregular at Magic High School series started with a web novel by Tsutomu Sato. Originally published on Shosetsuka ni Naro, Dengeki Bunko published it in light novel format in 2011. Manga adaptations of each arc also exist. The Irregular at Magic High School: Magian Company sequel started in 2020.
The first season of the anime by studio MADHOUSE aired in Spring 2014, while the Visitor Arc sequel (season 2) followed in Fall 2020. MADHOUSE animated the first season, but studio 8bit took over for the second one. The prequel, The Irregular at Magic High School: Reminiscence Arc (also 8bit) aired on December 31, 2021.
The franchise also has a movie from 2017, titled The Girl Who Summons the Stars (studio 8-bit). Spin-off anime The Honor at Magic High School by studio CONNECT aired throughout the Summer 2021 season.
Fans in Japan will get to see the premiere of The Irregular at Magic High School Season 3 in an early screening on March 31 in Japan.
