Popular Chinese anime The King’s Avatar is getting season 3. A key visual and a teaser trailer for the upcoming series are now also available. Colored-Pencil Animation Design is producing the donghua, but the release date is still unknown.
In addition to the key visual, a teaser PV is also available on the V.QQ video service. The plot follows a former professional gamer, who tries to regain his status after losing his career.
The first season of The King’s Avatar donghua aired in 2017 and quickly gathered a cult following among anime fans. G.CMay Animation & Film animated the first season, which had 12 episodes. A 3-episode OVA series, animated by Colored-Pencil Animation Design, followed in 2018. A prequel movie For the Glory came out in 2019, while the second season of the series aired in 2020 and had 12 episodes.
In addition to the anime, The King’s Avatar also has a live-action series, which premiered in 2019 on Tencent Video. The series is available on Netflix.
The King’s Avatar (Quanzhi Gaoshou)
The King’s Avatar, or Quanzhi Gaoshou, is based on a web novel by Butterfly Blue (Hu Dielan). The web novel started publishing in 2011 and ended after 1729 chapters. A webtoon adaptation of the web novel is currently ongoing. The original web novel is available in English on Qidian’s Webnovel website, which describes the plot as:
