As previously announced, The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim movie revealed new information at this year’s New York Comic-Con. The reveal was a tapestry-style visual, inspired by the concept art:
The movie will have its international premiere on December 11 (December 13 in the US). Sola Entertainment, Warner Bros. animation and New Line are producing the newest installment in Tolkien’s Lord of the Rings franchise under Kenji Kamiyama’s direction. Stephen Gallagher is composing the music. Jeffrey Addis, Will Matthews, and Phillipa Boyens did the story. Addis and Matthews were joined by Phoebe Gittins and Arty Papageorgiou for the screenplay. The executive producers are Fran Walsh, Peter Jackson (director of the original trilogy, Sam Register, Carolyn Blackwood and Toby Emmerich. The English and Japanese cast for the movie includes:

- Brian Cox / Masachika Ichimura as Helm Hammerhand
- Miranda Otto / Takako Honda as Eowyn
- Laurence Ubong Williams / Hayato Taya as Fréaláf Hildeson

Miranda Otto played Eowyn in the original Lord of the Rings trilogy. As The War of the Rohirrim takes place some 180 years before The Hobbit series, she will not be reprising her role and will instead serve as a narrator.
Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim follows the story of Helm Hammerhand, a legendary King of Rohan, Helm Hammerhand, the ancient king of Rohan, after whom the fortress of Helm’s Deep is named. Sola Digital Arts animated the Blade Runner: Black Lotus series, which is also based on a literary classic.
The War of the Rohirrim movie is not related to Amazon’s Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power series, which premiered in 2022.
The movie was initially announced in 2021. The first look happened at the Annecy International Film Festival, during which it was announced that the US debut for the movie will happen on December 13. The official synopsis is:
Set 183 years before the events chronicled in the original trilogy of films, “The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim” tells the fate of the House of Helm Hammerhand, the legendary King of Rohan. A sudden attack by Wulf, a clever and ruthless Dunlending lord seeking vengeance for the death of his father, forces Helm and his people to make a daring last stand in the ancient stronghold of the Hornbur—a mighty fortress that will later come to be known as Helm’s Deep. Finding herself in an increasingly desperate situation, Héra, the daughter of Helm, must summon the will to lead the resistance against a deadly enemy intent on their total destruction.
