Comments from the New Cast Members
Mitsuru Miyamoto (Soichiro Enokizu):
I love stories set in the Showa era. Despite the hardships, people helped each other, the streets were full of energy, and there was a warm atmosphere. Through my appearances, I truly enjoyed immersing myself in the captivating world of Showa that this work portrays. I hope you all enjoy it too!
Kaoru Sakura (Yukie):
Being able to lend my voice to a work that once thrilled me is an absolute joy. Unexpected oddities lurking in daily life, quirky yet delightful characters… If I was able to bring warmth to Yukie in the midst of it all, I would be truly happy. Let’s look forward to the broadcast in April together!

Plot Overview
Aki Shimizu began drawing the manga in October 2019, and it was serialized in Kodansha’s Shonen Magazine Edge. After the magazine got discontinued in October 2023, the series was transferred to Kodansha’s Comic Days website. The official synopsis for the anime goes:
This story takes place before the exorcist Kyogokudo opened his used bookstore…
The setting is Tokyo in 1948, right after the war.
Kanna Kusakabe, now a second-year high school student, meets the new language teacher, Akihiko Chuzenji.
Strange, supernatural events keep occurring around Kanna. Once again today, she opens the door to the library preparation room, seeking help from the gruff Chuzenji-sensei who waits inside.
Theme Songs
The opening theme song, “She Is Now in the Labyrinth,” is performed by HoneyWorks feat. KAF, while the ending theme, “Something You Don’t Know,” is performed by Sizuk.
KAF commented:
Hi, I’m KAF! I’m honored to be working with HoneyWorks on the opening theme song for the TV anime The Mononoke Lecture Logs of Chuzenji-sensei: He Just Solves All the Mysteries, airing in April 2025! The title of the song is “She Is Now in the Labyrinth” I had the privilege of singing this track, and as the chorus builds, it feels as if the scenery expands, and emotions intensify. I experimented a lot during the recording to capture that essence!
Shunryu, composer of the ending theme, also commented:
The song expresses the emotions many of us have felt—fascination with fear, the hesitation of whether to move forward or retreat. Getting lost in mysterious thoughts can be part of growth, and I wanted listeners to feel that after hearing the song. ANCHOR’s delicate yet intense arrangement blends the atmosphere of the early Showa era with a modern sense of exhilaration. I also encourage you to pay attention to Shihori’s lyrics, which are both mysterious and deeply comforting. Through AYAME’s voice, which carries both youth and strength, I hope you can almost smell the books in Chuzenji-sensei’s library prep room.
Both of the theme songs can be heard in the main trailer, which you can watch below.
