The new The Quintessential Quintuplets Honeymoon Arc anime project was confirmed to a second TV special titled The Quintessential Quintuplets*. Prior to its TV broadcast, the new anime will be screened as a movie in Japanese theaters for 3 weeks starting on September 20, 2024. Studio Bibury Animation Studios is animating.
The new project was announced at a special event celebrating the show’s 5th anniversary, and it will cover the events set after the wedding and Futaro’s honeymoon. Negi Haruba wrote the story and will supervise the movie.
The official synopsis:
The long-awaited honeymoon episode, based on an original concept by Haruba Negi and under his complete supervision, is brought to life on screen. We bring you the daily lives of Futaro and the quintuplets as adults! Futaro, who successfully guided the academically struggling and study-averse quintuplets as their part-time tutor until their “graduation.” Though each achieved their dreams and walked their own paths, it seems they each carry some worries… Amidst this, Futaro and the quintuplets plan a Hawaii trip doubling as their honeymoon. Just as preparations were going smoothly, an incident occurred, causing a great panic! And even in Hawaii, their honeymoon destination, they find themselves caught up in troubles…!? A 500% adorable quintuplet romantic comedy, the honeymoon edition──!!
The theme song for the anime was also decided. It will be “Fivefold Smile / Memories” performed by the Nakano sisters (Kana Hanazawa, Ayana Taketatsu, Miku Ito, Ayane Sakura, Inori Minase). The song will release on September 18, and you can see the jacket cover below.
In addition to the new anime project, The Quintessential Quintuplets is also getting a new light novel, which show the parts of Nakano sisters’ lives that weren’t shown in the original manga. Hajime Asano will be writing the novel, while Negi Haruba will also be supervising.
The first season of The Quintessential Quintuplets anime adaptation aired from January to March 2019 and was animated by Tezuka Productions. Bibury Animation Studios took over for the 2nd season, which premiered in 2021. Bibury Animation Studios also animated the final movie, while SHAFT animated a TV special which premiered theatrically in Japan in September 2023.
Kodansha licensed the manga, while Crunchyroll streams the anime.
