The Rising of the Shield Hero Season 3 World Premiere Is Happening at Anime Expo 2023

The official Twitter of The Rising of the Shield Hero Season 3 announced that the anime will have a world premiere with Japanese dub and English subtitles at the upcoming Anime Expo 2023 in Los Angeles, California on July 3, 2023, at 12:00 noon PT (Pacific Timezone). The sequel was announced along with the second season at the Crunchyroll Expo in 2019. You can watch the teaser trailer below:

Kaito Ishikawa and Asami Seto are reprising their roles as the protagonists of the series, Naofumi Iwatani and Raphtalia. Rina Hidaka (Filo), Natsuko Hara (Rishia), Maaya Uchida (Melty Melromarc), Kikuko Inoue (Mirelia Melromarc), Makoto Takahashi (Motoyasu Kitamura), Yoshitaka Yamaya (Itsuki Kawasumi), Ren Amaki (Yoshitsugu Matsuoka), and Kenichi Ogata (Beloukas) will also return. MADKID is performing the show’s opening theme.

The Rising of the Shield Hero Season 3 Key Visual – World Premiere at Anime Expo

Studios Kinema Citrus and DR Movies are animating the series, with Masato Jinbo as the director. The first season of the anime premiered in 2019. Takao Abo directed it at Kinema Citrus. The second season premiered in 2022, and it had a total of 13 episodes. You can watch the entire series on Crunchyroll.

The anime is based on Aneko Yusagi’s The Rising of the Shield Hero light novel series. Media Factory is publishing it with Seira Minami’s illustrations from 2013, and it currently has 22 volumes in circulation. The same publisher is serializing a manga adaptation by Aiya Kyu since 2014, on Monthly Comic Flapper, and as of now, it has 22 volumes available.

One Peace Books is publishing the original The Rising of the Shield Hero light novel series in English. The 3rd season will start at volume 10 and you can read the plot below:
Finishing the battle with Kyo, Naofumi and his friends return safely to their world. The queen of Melromarc wishes to reward Naofumi for saving the world from the Spirit Tortoise.
