Seven Deadly Sins: Grudge of Edinburgh anime announced that the second part is slated for August 2023. The first part of the film adaptation began streaming on Tuesday on Netflix. To celebrate the premiere, the anime will hold a talk event with four cast members, Yuki Kaji (Meliodas), Ayumu Murase (Tristan), Koki Uchiyama (Launcelot), and Yohei Azakami (Deathpierce) on YouTube, titled “The Seven Deadly Sins: Grudge of Edinburgh Part 1 Talk Event” on December 25.
The film introduces the plot in English as:
14 years since the Kingdom of Liones defeated the Demon Clan and brought peace to the land, Prince Tristan is tormented by his inability to control two great powers: the Demon Clan power of his father, Meliodas, who served as captain of the Seven Deadly Sins as the Dragon Sin of Wrath, and the Goddess Clan power of his mother, Elizabeth. When Elizabeth’s life is threatened, Tristan flees the kingdom and heads toward Edinburgh, where Deathpierce — who was once a member of a group of the kingdom’s Holy Knights, the Pleiades of the Azure Sky — maintains his castle. But what are Deathpierce’s intentions? The wheel of fate begins to move and sweeps up even The Seven Deadly Sins…
Seven Deadly Sins was originally a manga series written and illustrated by Nakaba Suzuki in Kodansha’s Weekly Shonen Magazine. The manga inspired anime adaptations with 4 seasons and 3 movies; A-1 Pictures animated the first two seasons and Prisoners of the Sky movie, while Studio DEEN took care of seasons 3 and 4, as well as the Cursed by Light movie. The series’ sequel, Four Knights of the Apocalypse is receiving an anime adaptation.
