Tokyo Revengers Manga Ends After 5 Years, Author Releases a Message

Ken Wakui’s Tokyo Revengers manga came to an end on Wednesday in Kodansha’s Weekly Shonen Magazine (#51/2022) after 5 and a half years. The serialization began in March 2017. The magazine featured manga with many of the characters on the cover. Other than the final chapter, the issue compiles a long interview with the author and stickers of all the teams as a bonus. On the day, the official Twitter page of the series also posted the author’s comments and drawing for fans to express appreciation.

The author’s comment on the final chapter reads:
“Today on November 16, it’s the final chapter of Tokyo Revengers (^^) 5 and a half years since the series began, when it was a passionate chapter, I was crying, and when it was a gag episode, I was laughing out loud, I put my feeling into and draw the manga, Such an awesome time I went through with the Toman members, thank you very much all the readers for the 5 and a half years!

The newly posted illustration shows the author passed out on the desk while drawing the Tokyo Revengers characters surrounding him including the protagonist Takemichi Hanagaki. Draken, whose real name is Ken Ryuguji, the vice leader of the Tokyo Manji Gang, is asking if the author is dead in the picture. The text in the upper center reads “Tokyo Revengers Finale” while the text at the bottom says “Fin”.

The official Twitter page has been counting down the remaining days until the finale since October 19 when they made the announcement to conclude the series on November 11. The countdown reached the end with Takemichi Hanagaki’s determined statement that he doesn’t want to let anybody die anymore.
