Dale Wilson, known as the voice actor of Cell and other characters from the Ocean dub of Dragon Ball Z, passed away on January 6. His wife posted on Facebook, sharing that he’d been battling prostate cancer and Parkinson’s for years. You can read her full post below.
“Hi Everyone. This is Gail, Dale’s wife. It is with an aching heart that I must tell you. Last evening Dale moved on from this Earthly existence. Having lived with metastasized prostate cancer and Parkinson’s disease for many years, he was ready. He was my heart, my soul, my North Star. In the words of Bonnie Raitt, “He taught me how to live….how to be myself……and how to give.” I know he has for many of you as well. And I know he treasured each one of you; his relatives, friends and fans.”
Besides voicing Cell, Dale Wilson also gave his voice to numerous other characters in Dragon Ball Z, including Kami, King Yemma, Android 8, and Go. He also voiced Smokescreen in Transformers Armada, Watsap in Black Lagoon, Professor Okawa in Human Crossing, Doctor and Arimoto in Tetsujin 28, Pang Hercury in Mobile Suit Gundam 00, among others.
