Japanese entertainment company Edia revealed in its recent financial presentation that it has five anime in development, all of which are slated for release between 2028 and 2030. This follows its announcement last year of a “full-scale” entry into the anime business.

The graphic below, pulled from the presentation, shows that the production committee for an anime scheduled for broadcast before the end of the fiscal year ending February 2029 has essentially already been formed. The formation of two more production committees is scheduled between February 2026 and 2027, followed by another two in the same period, but slightly later. Many things happen between the formation of an anime production committee and its broadcast, of course; three of these anime will debut between February 2028 and February 2029, and another one debuts before February 2030.

We had the opportunity to speak to Edia last year (in quite possibly its first-ever English interview) following the full-scale entry announcement, where it explained its strategy and lessons learned from investments in isekai titles like Drug Store in Another World – The Slow Life of a Cheat Pharmacist and The Aristocrat’s Otherworldly Adventure: Serving Gods Who Go Too Far, the latter of which saw it lead a production committee for the first time.

As Edia also owns the publishing company HIFUMISHOBO, which produces its own original IP, Edia explained to Anime Corner that production committee participation better enables it to protect the integrity of its titles. We also spoke about overseas expansion, cross-media IP development, collaboration challenges within production committees, and much more.

These five anime join studio Bones Film’s (My Hero Academia FINAL SEASON, Gachiakuta) recent reveal that it has an anime scheduled to debut in 2029. Bones Film producer Yoshihiro Oyabu says the distant release window stems from pre-production and production times increasing from two to four years, among other reasons.
