The fans have spoken, and we have heard loud and clear. So far Winter 2021 has had some phenomenal showings for debuts like Mushoku Tensei and Horimiya; as well as for sequels like Log Horizon. However the Anime of Spring of 2021 is approaching with its own amazing lineup, and we here at Anime Corner are here to name the ones building the most hype. Since only 10 are listed, we sadly won’t cover all the great options. Let us know what other shows your most excited for!

My Hero Academia (Season 5)

(Premiering Mar. 27th, 2021)

A new era begins, Season 4 ended with Endevour crowned as the new Number 1 hero following the retirement of All Might. Very quickly though trouble is back as a new version of Nomu has arrived. More intelligent than its predecessors, this one is tough enough to push Endeavor to his limits. With the recent introduction of the new top 10 hero’s, the world will question if they be able to handle the pressure.

Season 5 has been highly requested, and we can most likely expect the same formula of 25 episodes like previous seasons. It will most likely cover the Pro Hero Arc, Joint Training Arc, and Meta Liberation Army Arc. Studio Bones has the reigns of this fan favorite, with the manga having over 30 million copies in circulation. You’ll be able to find this show available on both Crunchyroll and Funimation.

The story follows Shinei Nouzen or “Shin” leading the charge on the battlefield. As well as Vladilena Mirize or “Lena” the young commander from the rear, and their struggle to survive.

Asato Asato’s light novels are brought to the screen by A-1 Pictures. This wonderful show was originally scheduled for a 2020 release. Luckily it was only pushed back into the spring 2021 lineup instead, so we’re very excited for this premiere. It looks like it will be available on Crunchyroll and Funimation.

This popular web manga series by Nanashi has gone on for years. With what be called almost a cult following, fans have been clamoring for a Anime adapation for ages. Though luckily Covid-19 delays did not disrupt this airing, so thank you Telecom animations for keeping this one in the anime of spring 2021. This show will look to be airing on Funimation and Crunchyroll.

Shaman King (2021)

(Premiering April 2021)

There are individuals with the ability to harness the power of spirits for battle called Shamans. Enter Asakura Yoh, heir to the Asakura Family, who are known for their tremendous line of Shamans and his companion Amidamaru . Yoh saves Manta Oyamada a young boy in trouble and befriends him. You explains he is entering the Shaman Tournament, an event held every 500 years that draws shamans from across the world to compete, with the winner becoming the Shaman King. The king will become wielder of the Great Spirit, and control the world as a God. Yoh, Manta, and Amidamaru take off to help you in quest to be the next Shaman King.

This will be Round 2 for this series, as there was a previous anime adaptation in the early 2000’s with the same name. Though by all accounts the anime of spring 2021 version seems to be more revolved around the manga for the whole airing. So the best comparison in my opinion for this type of situation would be Fullmetal Alchemist and Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood. Studio Bridge will be the ones bringing Hiroyuki Takei’s manga to the screen.

Edens Zero

The manga series written and illustrated by Ken Waku is brought to us by LIDENFILMS. Fun fact A live-action film adaptation is also scheduled to be released in Japan in July 2021, but this show looks to standout amongst the anime of spring 2021.

Moriarty The Patriot (2nd Season)

(Premiering April 6th, 2021)

Moriarty the Patriot explores the background and rise to power of this infamous villain in a retelling of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s Sherlock Holmes series. Professor Moriarty takes a stand for the common man, enabling revenge for his “customers”, people who have suffered under a noble’s abuse of power, and his notorious rival Holmes makes it his mission to discover who the mastermind behind these incidents is. Season 1 left on an ambiguous note as, while Moriarty toyed with his rival, documents that contain one of Britain’s greatest secrets were stolen, and the Queen tasked Sherlock’s brother Mycroft with recovering them.

Originally premiering in the fall, Moriarty Season 1 was a fan favorite as it placed 8th on our final rankings for that season. We are super excited to see what season 2 of  the anime based on the mystery manga series written by Ryōsuke Takeuchi and illustrated by Hikaru Miyoshi has in store. This one will only be available on Funimation.

However the curious fate about this unit is that they were created with stipulation. As the government felt that the best way t take on vampires is with vampires of their own.

Signal M.D is in charge of animating this project based on the play reading of Bun-O Fujisawa. This one may have been under the radar of some, but don’t be fooled, this show has a hype train gaining speed very quickly. We hope you have Funimation as this one will be an exclusive.
