Attack on Titan Statue Unveiled In Hajime Isayama’s Hometown, Says 1-2% Of Manga is left

The “Attack on Titan” manga ending is now only a few chapters away. Hajime Isayama said it himself at an event in Hita City, Japan. That’s the famous author’s home town, and a new statue was unveiled there in front of the Oyama Dam. The bronze Attack on Titan statue is based on the famous scene of Eren, Mikasa and Armin staring at the wall at the beginning of the show. Shingeki no Kyojin (Attack on Titan), written and illustrated work by Hajime Isayama. A fan took images and posted them on Twitter:

There is also a dam structure in front of them, which serves as the wall where they first saw a titan in the “Since That Day” chapter (and episode 1).

There is also a plaque next to the Attack on Titan statue, with both an English and Japanese message. The English part reads:

“Since beginning serialization in 2009, Attack on Titan has left an impact on people around the world. Oyama Town is the hometown of its creator, Hajime Isayama, as well as the place where he first had the idea for his story.

In one scene of Attack on Titan’s first chapter, Eien, Mikasa, and Amin, childhood friends, look up at the Colossus Titan. This bronze statue is Senta to recreate this scene, bringing fiction and reality together as one, and it was placed here thanks to a crowdfunding effort made up of many fans who shared a desire for the children and people of this place to have the courage needed to take on the unknown and overcome hardship.

In addition, there is an AR app which projects a titan on the wall of the dam. Hajime Isayama had the honor of cutting the ribbon for the statue’s presentation. After that, he addressed the guests at the ceremony and said that the manga is close to ending. He specifically said there was about 1-2% left, and invited them to look forward to it.

The final anime season begins in less than a month!
