Vaundy released the music video for “Todome no Ichigeki,” which is currently used as the ending theme for season 2 of Spy x Family. The track was made in collaboration with American guitarist and songwriter Cory Wong.
The music video was directed by Yuichi Kodama, who has previously directed for artists such as Perfume, Tokyo Jihen, Radwimps, Fujii Kaze, Hikaru Utada, and more recently Ed Sheeran. The main protagonist in the music video is played by the popular Japanese actress and model Masami Nagasawa.
It is also worth noting that a specific Spy x Family easter egg made its way into the music video. In one of the shots, the main protagonist in the video is sitting in a La Chaise chair – the same as the one Yor Forger is sitting on on the cover of Spy x Family‘s third volume. The chair costs over 15,000$.
The release of “Todome no Ichigeki” also comes alongside Vaundy’s announcement for “replica,” his upcoming second studio album. The album will be released on November 15 and will feature tracks such as “CHAINSAW BLOOD” which was used as the ending theme for the first episode of Chainsaw Man, as well as “Naked Hero” which was used in the Ranking of Kings.
Vaundy started off his music career by releasing his songs independently on YouTube in 2019. His debut album, titled “Strobo”, was released in May 2020 and featured his breakout song “Tokyo Flash.” Aside from his previous anime songs, he collaborated with Ado on the track “Backlight,” which was used in the soundtrack of the movie One Piece Film: Red.
