Both Gurren Lagann movies will return to theaters in 4K in January 2024, and the films will be screened in 4D and English dubbed for the first time. Gurren Lagann The Movie: Childhood’s End and The Lights in the Sky Are Stars will premiere in United States theaters in English sub and dub on January 16-17 and January 23-24, 2024, respectively. The English dub cast, an English version of the movie poster, and a trailer were also revealed. This was announced at Anime NYC on November 18, 2023, and forms part of the 15th-anniversary celebrations since Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann first aired in April 2007. The cast is below:
- Simon: Yuri Lowenthal
- Kamina: Kyle Hebert
- Yoko: Michelle Ruff
- Nia: Bridget Hoffman
- Boota: Julie Ann Taylor
- Rossiu: Johnny Yong Bosch
- Viral: Sam Riegel
The movie poster and trailer are below:
Tickets for both films go on sale on December 8 and can be bought here. The announcement of the English dub revival follows the intense speculation from earlier this month after a dubbed SAG-AFTRA listing of the first Gurren Lagann movie appeared online. It was previously revealed at Studio Trigger’s Anime Expo panel in July that both films would be getting the 4K treatment. However, 4D and an English dub were certainly a surprise. The staff from the initial premiere of the Gurren Lagann The Movies are below:

- You Yoshinari (Mecha Design)

The Gurren Lagann movies recap the events of the original anime series. Crunchyroll streams the anime, which is described as:
This is the story of a man who has yet to realize what destiny holds in store for him…In the distant future, mankind has lived quietly and restlessly underground for hundreds of years, subject to earthquakes and cave-ins. Living in one such village are 2 young men: one named Simon who is shy and naïve, and the other named Kamina who believes in the existence of a “surface” world above their heads.
