Yozora Mel, a VTuber from Hololive’s first-generation VTuber lineup, was terminated by the agency earlier today after apparently leaking information to third parties, as announced in a press release released by the agency on its official website.
According to the statement, the agency has determined that it has become difficult to continue managing and supporting te streamer and, with agreement from the talent, they have elected to make this decision to terminate her contract. With this, her official YouTube channel and memberships will be shut down by the end February this year.
To all our fans and partners, we deeply appreciate all of the great support you have provided throughout the activities that Yozora Mel has engaged in over a period of 5 years and 8 months since her debut as part of the first generation of hololive. It is with regret that we must report this matter in spite of the long-standing activities of Yozora Mel. We sincerely apologize for the information we are providing at this time.
Statement from Hololive on Yozora Mel’s termination
Hololive further added that they are taking this matter very seriously and that they intend to make further efforts to instruct their talents on compliance so that similar incidents do not happen again in the future.
In a separate announcement by Yozora Mel herself, she has apologized to fans regarding her “thoughtless behavior,” and that she is also sorry for parting ways with her fellow Hololive members who have all helped in her VTubing journey. She added that she will never forget the memories she had with the agency.
Yozora Mel debuted alongside Aki Rosenthal, Natsuiro Matsuri, Shirakami Fubuki, and Akai Haato as part of Hololive’s first generation in May 2018. At the time of this writing, she has over 800,000 YouTube subscribers and over 700,000 followers on X (Twitter). Following her termination, the rest of the first generation also released a short video, stating that while they feel “saddened” by the events that transpired, they will continue doing content as usual and asking fans to continue supporting them.
This is not the first time Hololive has terminated a talent. In 2020, the agency terminated fifth-generation VTuber Mano Aloe weeks after she debuted due to a breach of contract. In 2022, they terminated Uruha Rushia due to her leaking false information to third parties, as well as leaking sensitive information related to the agency’s business operations.
