The HIDIVE anime streaming platform launched a new, redesigned website and app earlier today. The press release states that the “new HIDIVE website and apps feature a redesigned user interface, a sleek and simplified menu as well as enhancements to content discovery, user curation, and playback options. This includes updated search and watch history functionality, enabling subscribers to easily find titles by category and genre or quickly determine “that title” to rewatch. HIDIVE now includes offline viewing, one of the most highly requested features, which allows users to download content while online and watch on the go. Additionally, subscribers can also now create a near limitless number of customized watchlists for online viewing.”
While this is great news for users of the AMC-owned platform recently pulled out from most non-English speaking countries. Since December, the service has only been available in the following countries: the United States, Canada, Ireland, the United Kingdom, and Australia.
HIDIVE launched in 2017: at the time it was owned by Sentai Filmworks. In 2019, they partnered with the popular anime database website My Anime List, and a year later they collaborated with Anime-Planet. A one point they were partnered with Crunchyroll and its VRV service. Sentai and HIDIVE were acquired by AMC Networks in 2022.
The streaming service is home to titles such as Oshi no Ko, Gushing Over Magical Girls, The Eminence in Shadow, Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon?, and more.
