Blue Lock Announces 3rd Stage Play

BLUE LOCK has announced a 3rd stage play, which is set to be performed in two venues in Osaka and Tokyo this August. A teaser visual has been released, along with some new cast members. Cast members from the first two plays are returning, including Ryohei Takenaka as the protagonist Yoichi Isagi.

New cast members are Ryono Kusachi as Rin Itoshi, Gaku Matsuda as Ryusei Shido, Kosuke Asuma as Kenyu Yukimiya, and Kairi Miura as Yo Hiori. Naohiro Ise is returning to direct the 3rd stage play.

The Osaka performances will take place from August 9 to 12 at the Dream House Grand Hall of the Higashi-Osaka City Cultural Creation Center. The Tokyo performances will be held from August 17 to 25 at Theater H.

The first BLUE LOCK stage play ran in May 2023 in Osaka and Tokyo, while the second one ran in January 2024 in Kyoto and Tokyo.


BLUE LOCK is a Japanese manga written by Muneyuki Kaneshiro and illustrated by Yusuke Nomura. Studio 8bit animated the first TV anime season that premiered in October 2022 and ran for 24 episodes. In addition to the Nagi movie which premiered in April, a 2nd TV anime season is also in production. It is set for an October 2024 premiere.

Kodansha licensed the manga in English, while Crunchyroll streams the anime. They describe the story:
Japan’s desire for World Cup glory leads the Japanese Football Association to launch a new rigorous training program to find the national team’s next striker. Three hundred high school players are pitted against each other for the position, but only one will come out on top. Who among them will be the striker to usher in a new era of Japanese soccer?
