BLUE LOCK Season 2 anime has revealed its theme song to be “Bojaku no Charisma” by UNISON SQUARE GARDEN in a short announcement trailer. Studio 8bit is animating, and you can hear a preview of the theme song in the trailer below.
Studio 8bit also animated the first BLUE LOCK season, which premiered in October last year and ran for 2 cours. The main cast of the BLUE LOCK anime includes Kazuki Ura as Yoichi Isagi, Tasuku Kaito as Meguru Bachira, Soma Saito (Hyoma Chigiri), and Yuki Ono as Rensuke Kunigami.
The anime is based on a manga written by Muneyuki Kaneshiro and illustrated by Yusuke Nomura. Kodansha is publishing the manga in English, and they describe the story:
After a disastrous defeat at the 2018 World Cup, Japan’s team struggles to regroup. But what’s missing? An absolute Ace Striker, who can guide them to the win! The Football Association is hell-bent on creating a striker who hungers for goals and thirsts for victory, and who can be the decisive instrument in turning around a losing match … To do so, they’ve gathered 300 of Japan’s best and brightest youth players. Who will emerge to lead the team … and will they be able to out-muscle and out-ego everyone who stands in their way?
We had the chance to interview Kazuki Ura (Isagi’s Japanese voice actor), Ryoya Arisawa (anime producer), and Megumu Tsuchiya (manga editor) at this year’s Anime Expo. We talked with them about working on the manga and anime series, the challenges they faced in creating the work loved by fans worldwide, as well as what to expect from the upcoming season 2.
