Blue Box anime has added Shogo Sakata, Anna Nagase and Asaki Yuikawa to the voice cast, also revealing their characters’ designs. Studio Telecom Animation Film is animating, while Netflix will begin streaming the show worldwide on October 3. The new voice cast and their characters can be seen below.
Shogo Sakata as Ryosuke Nishida
Character’s description: A second-year student at Eimei Senior High. He belongs to the boys’ badminton club and is a mood-maker for the team, being trusted by his peers due to his close friendship with Hina.
Shogo Sakata’s comment: I’m delighted to have the chance to play Ryosuke Nishida. As someone who’s been reading Blue Box as a fan, I never expected to be part of it, so I’m really happy. As a senior who is both reliable and cheerful, I want to do my best to bring out the energy in the badminton team. I appreciate your support!
Anna Nagase as Nagisa Funami
Character’s description: A second-year student at Eimei Senior High. She belongs to the girls’ basketball club, just like Chinatsu. She is very close friends with Chinatsu and has a straightforward personality.
Anna Nagase’s comment: I’m very happy to play Nagisa Funami in the Blue Box TV anime! Nagisa is a bright and refreshing character who works hard in basketball. I hope the heartwarming and youthful charm of Blue Box moves everyone. Please look forward to the broadcast!
Asaki Yuikawa as Nina Shimazaki
Character’s description: A first-year student at Eimei Senior High. She is in the same class as Taiki, Chinatsu, and Hina. Niina also belongs to the same rhythmic gymnastics club as Hina.
Asaki Yuikawa’s comment: I’m thrilled to play the role of Nina Shimazaki! She is a kind girl who practices hard with Hina in the rhythmic gymnastics club, and I really enjoy portraying her. I hope the youthful brilliance of Blue Box shines through and resonates with everyone!
The anime previously revealed the main trailer, previewing both of the opening theme songs. Official HIGE DANdism performs the opening theme song “Same Blue,” while Eve performs the ending song “Teenage Blue.”
The main voice cast for the Blue Box anime consists of the following members:
- Shoya Chiba as Taiki Inomata
- Reina Ueda as Chinatsu Kano
- Akari Kito as Hina Chono
- Chiaki Kobayashi as Kyo Kasahara
- Yuma Uchida as Kengo Hanyu
Yuichiro Yano is directing the anime, with Miho Tanino as the character designer and Yuko Kakihara in charge of the series composition. Koji Miura writes and draws the manga for Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump. The story follows Taiki Inomata, a badminton player aiming for nationals, as he falls for Chisatsu Kano, his beautiful, basketball-loving senpai.
