BLUE LOCK is a manga written by Muneyuki Kaneshiro and illustrated by Yusuke Nomura. An anime television series adaptation by Eight Bit was produced in 2022, followed by a spin-off anime film adaptation of the manga Episode Nagi in April 2024. A second season, titled BLUE LOCK vs. U-20 JAPAN, premiered in October 2024 and is currently ongoing. Ani-One describes BLUE LOCK:
In order to develop the world’s best striker to lead Japan to the World Cup championship, three hundred high school forwards were invited to participate the “BLUE LOCK” project. Thirty-five egoists survived the grueling selection process. Some by kicking others down, and some by evolving as players. Having survived the frenzy and now filled with ego, they will fight for BLUE LOCK’s survival, participating in their biggest match to date, a historic battle against the U-20 Japan national team. The chance to change destiny and imprint their ego upon the world is at hand as the hottest match in history begins!
