Makishima Suzuki writes the Welcome to Japan, Ms. Elf (Nihon e Yokoso Erufu-san) light novel, which features illustrations by Yappen. It began serialization online in 2017 on the Shosetsuka ni Naro website, before being acquired by Hobby Japan and getting the first light novel volume published in August 2018 under their HJ Novels imprint. There is also a manga adaptation by Shimo Aono. Both the light novel and manga have been licensed in English by J-Novel Club.
The story follows Kazuhiro Kitase, whose main hobby is sleeping. Ever since his childhood, he would visit a different world in his dreams, where he met a certain elf. One day, however, he wakes up to find the elf next to him in real life. Now he has adventures in the real world, teaching Ms. Elf about Japan.
