Tomohito Oda’s popular rom-com manga series Komi Can’t Communicate is officially coming to an end soon, per its upcoming magazine issue. Shogakukan’s Weekly Shonen Sunday 2025 Issue 7 confirms the next chapter represents the “final part,” echoing the same words present in the manga’s official X (formerly Twitter) bio. The chapter’s logline reads, “The final part! As high school life comes to an end, preparations for the graduation ceremony progress!!” You can check out a synopsis for Chapter 494 below:

First debuting in May 2016, Komi Can’t Communicate has been serialized for nearly 9 years. It’s been collected into 35 chapters with Volume 36 set to be released in Japan on January 18. VIZ Media licenses the series in North America, releasing Volume 31 on October 8. The series has over 14 million copies in circulation.
As Oda’s series comes to a close, the upcoming Weekly Shonen Sunday issue sees the return of Syun Matsuena with his new manga Sora e. Matsuena is known for Shijo Saikyo no Deshi Ken’ichi, which received the 50-episode anime adaptation KenIchi: The Mightiest Disciple by TMS Entertainment. His recent serialization Kimi wa 008 concluded in Weekly Shonen Sunday last April. Meanwhile, his autographical work Kichijoji Shonen is serialized in Shogakukan’s Gessan magazine.
