Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – Hinokami Chronicles 2 will launch for the PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 on August 1, 2025. The sequel builds on the previous title with new story content, an expanded character roster, and updated gameplay mechanics. A new visual illustrated by ufotable and a second promotional trailer have also been released, featuring Tanjiro Kamado and all of the nine playable Hashiras.
Game Features and Content
The sequel includes several updates:
- Story Mode Chapters – Covers the Entertainment District Arc, Swordsmith Village Arc, and Hashira Training Arc.
- Expanded Character Roster – Includes all nine Hashira, the original 18 characters from the first game, demons from previous updates, and paid DLC characters from the Entertainment District Arc.
- Gameplay Adjustments – Combat mechanics, combos, and special abilities have been updated.
- Visual and Performance Enhancements – Improved character models, environmental details, and animations.

- Digital pre-orders will open on March 4, 2025.
- A Collector’s Edition with a figure multi-stand will be released for PS5.

AnimeJapan 2025 Demo Preview
A PS5 demo version will be available at AnimeJapan 2025 on March 22-23, giving early access to the new features and characters. The playable demo will include:
- Serpent Hashira – Obanai Iguro
- Wind Hashira – Sanemi Shinazugawa
- Stone Hashira – Gyomei Himejima
A Big Summer for Demon Slayer Fans
The game follows the Mugen Train revival screening starting on May 9, 2025 in Japan, which will present the film in 4K with remixed Dolby Atmos sound. It also precedes the release of Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle, which will premiere in Japan on July 18, 2025. More details on the upcoming film are available here. Game Background
The first Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Hinokami Chronicles was developed by CyberConnect2 and released in October 2021. Aniplex published the game in Japan, while Sega handled the global release. Initially available on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and Windows, it later launched for Nintendo Switch in June 2022. The game has surpassed 4 million copies sold as of December 9, 2024.
The upcoming sequel builds on the original game while expanding the roster and updating combat mechanics. Further details on gameplay updates and additional content will be shared as the release date approaches.
