Toei Animation published its annual securities report covering the period from April 1, 2024, to March 31, 2025, sharing its current employee count, average age, length of employment, and annual salary. It was confirmed that Toei Animation staff on average earn 8,273,416 yen, or just over $57k annually (as of March 31). This is marginally up from 8,131,481 yen the year prior. Toei Animation’s net income attributable to its shareholders was 23,623 million yen or $164.4 million.
Additionally, there are 960 employees currently at Toei Animation and its consolidated subsidiaries, and 696 when considering Toei Animation alone. At Toei Animation alone, employees have an average age of 39 years and 9 months and a tenure of 8 years and 5 months. Figures don’t include part-time and seasonal workers. Employees currently seconded from Toei Animation to other companies are discounted, but the data includes those seconded to the company. The wage statistic includes bonuses and non-standard wages.
Toei Animation’s revenue streams include money from distributing its titles domestically and internationally, Blu-ray sales, and copyright revenue, either directly through its own operations or through licensing the rights to third parties to develop merchandise, games, and other products.

The securities report gives a detailed view into Toei Animation, including its differences between male and female employee wages, percentage of female managers, identified business risks—including copyright infringement and technological advancements—overseas expansion goals, and sales performance.
Toei Animation also reaffirms its commitment to developing technologies such as CG and AI. The company recently released a presentation on how it was exploring AI use in anime production; applications included storyboarding, coloring, in-betweening, and background art generation. It later clarified that it was not currently using AI for these applications, but intended to. The presentation followed an investment in AI development company Preferred Networks in April and the formation of the new ETERNA animation brand, which will employ “new forms of animation.” It may also be worth noting that Toei Animation agreed on a strategic partnership with CJ ENM in 2021 to jointly develop IP. This week, CJ ENM rolled out the ‘100% AI-generated animation’ Cat Biggie, reports Variety.
