Nobuhiro Osawa, chief producer of EGG FIRM and its anime titles DanMachi, Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation, and Sword Art Online, says he hopes to see their adaptations through to the end. Answering a question about the future of the DanMachi anime and what fans can expect given that it has largely caught up to the light novels, Osawa said:
“Not only with Danmachi, but with any original work that is adapted into an anime, I always think, ‘Once I start, I want to see it through to the end.’ This is true for ‘Sword Art Online’ series and the ‘Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation’ series as well. However, the fact is that without the original work, there is no way to create the anime. Please urge Omori-san to release the next novel as soon as possible. Otherwise, the next series of the anime will not be able to be produced. Let’s all urge Omori-san together!“
The comments were made at the DanMachi—Is it Wrong to Try to Pick-Up Girls in a Dungeon? 10th Anniversary Celebration panel at Anime Expo; Osawa answered numerous questions, including his involvement in DanMachi, his favorite episode and scene, and the collaboration process with Omori. With 18 volumes adapted across five seasons, DanMachi may have only recently reached enough novel content to adapt with Volume 20, released on December 15, 2024. Volume 21, marking the beginning of the final chapter of the series, drops in October 2025 as part of a simultaneous triple-release alongside Sword Oratoria Volume 16 and Familia Chronicle: Episode Asfi.
As fans await DanMachi‘s future, Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation fans can expect a new teaser trailer on July 6 (JST). Meanwhile, a new Sword Art Online movie is in production.
