Wistoria: Wand and Sword Season 2 anime has officially set 2026 as the release date, exactly a year since the first season. The anime is celebrating the 1st anniversary of its TV anime broadcast, which first started on July 7, 2024. The sequel was confirmed to be in production immediately after the finale.
A special visual drawn by the manga artist Toshi Aoi was also released to commemorate the first anniversary:

Studios Actas and Bandai Namco Pictures animated the first season of Wistoria: Wand and Sword, with Tatsuya Yoshihara as the director. The anime started as a hidden gem, but ended up frequenting our weekly rankings popular, having ranked 9th and 5th in our first two weekly rankings. We also got the chance to speak with the show’s producer, who praised its staff as the ‘greatest to ever assemble.’ The main voice cast consists of:

The anime is based on the manga written by Fujino Omori (also the author of Danmachi) and illustrated by Toshi Aoi. It has been serialized in Kodansha’s Bessatsu Shonen Magazine since December 9, 2020, with 12 published volumes as of March. Volume 9 is set to release on July 9, 2025. Kodansha USA licensed it in English, while Crunchyroll is streaming the anime adaptation.
The story follows the ‘alent-less’ Will Serfort, a mage without magic attending a magic academy with the hope of becoming a Magia Vander, one of the world’s top mages. He needs to accomplish that to reunite with his prodigious childhood friend, Elfaria, and he has to face severe lack of respect from most of his fellow classmates. However, he is determined and slowly wins people over, showing that hard work and perseverance can get him far.
