Hololive Officially Has Its Own Music Record Label

Last month, COVER Corp. announced the launch of a new music label for hololive production, named hololive RECORDS. The label represents a formalization of hololive’s already existing music production and distribution efforts, with the decision to found hololive RECORDS stemming from the desire to “carry these achievements and passion for music into the future” and provide a “venue for the musical activities centered around talents.” You can check out the announcement video below.

hololive’s musical output has already seen multiple songs chart on the Billboard Japan Hot 100, amass millions of views on social media platforms, and serve as tie-in and theme songs to popular anime series, such as Mori Calliope’s “Future Island” (One Piece) and “Go-Getters” (Suicide Squad ISEKAI), and Hoshimachi Suisei’s “I don’t care” (Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX). We had the opportunity to speak to Mori Calliope in 2023, and again in 2024, followed by an interview with COVER Corp. CEO Motoaki Tanigo the same year.

hololive’s new evolution follows several graduations of high-profile talents, such as (links provided) Gawr Gura, Murasaki Shion, Ceres Fauna, Sakamata Chloe, Amelia Watson, and Minato Aqua. hololive RECORDS was announced with the taglines “Music, voices, feelings – now and forever, they will be with you [translated],” and “hololive’s music, broader, deeper, and freer [translated].” The announcement post adds, “Any dream, any challenge, starts here. We’ll do everything that’s fun. A playground where ‘what I want to try’ is realized through music.”

hololive RECORDS also follows the joint label under hololive and Universal Music Japan’s EMI Records, holo-n, which was founded in 2023, as well as Mori Calliope signing with EMI Records in 2022. Notably, according to Spotify, the master copyright for Mori Calliope’s latest song, “Queen of the Night,” is held by COVER Corp., while hololive RECORDS holds the publishing rights.
