The Frontier Lord Begins with Zero Subjects anime revealed the first trailer, along with a new visual and voice cast. The anime was announced last year, and it is set to premiere in July 2026.
Studio animation studio42 is in charge of the animation, with Kenichi Imaizumi as director. The new voice cast additions include:
- Taito Ban as Klaus
- Miku Ito as Senai
- Haruka Shiraishi as Aihan
- Jun Fukuyama as Erdan
They join the previously announced main cast of Shion Wakayama as Alna and Kenichiro Matsuda as Dias. You can hear all of them in the new trailer below.

The Frontier Lord Begins with Zero Subjects light novel is written by Furo and illustrated by Kinta. It first started as a web novel on Shosetsuka ni Naro in January 2018, while Earth Star Entertainment acquired it and began publishing it under their Earth Star Novel imprint in October 2018. There is also a manga adaptation by Yumbo, which began in December 2018.
J-Novel Club is releasing the series in English, describing the story:
Dias finally returns home after decades of war. He’s hailed a hero and promptly rewarded with his own domain…which turns out to be little more than empty plains. Population: zero. Dias, who has only ever known battle, finds himself at a loss. How is he supposed to survive, let alone cultivate his territory into a thriving, prosperous dominion when there’s nothing but grass as far as he can see? Fortunately for Dias, a horned girl by the name of Alna is about to show him there’s more to the plains than meets the eye!
