Tickets are now on sale for That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime the Movie: Tears of the Azure Sea, which is set to release in theaters in the United States and Canada on May 1, 2026. The film is being distributed by Crunchyroll and Sony Pictures Entertainment.

The movie is directed by Yasuhito Kikuchi, who also co-writes the screenplay with Toshizo Nemoto. Original creator Fuse is credited with the story concept, while the animation production is handled by Eightbit (8bit). The film has a runtime of 104 minutes and will be available in both English dub and Japanese with English subtitles, with a PG-13 rating for violence and suggestive material.

Ahead of the new film’s release, the previous movie, That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime the Movie: Scarlet Bond, will return to select U.S. theaters for a one-day screening on April 20 as part of Crunchyroll’s Anime Nights program. The screening will include a 10-minute preview of Tears of the Azure Sea.

The movie is a standalone side story set after the events of Season 3, following Rimuru and his companions as they visit a private resort island at the invitation of Elmesia of the Magi Dynasty Thalion. The official synopsis:

After concluding the opening ceremony of the Demon Kingdom Federation Tempest, Rimuru and his companions are invited by the Celestial Emperor Elmesia of the great elven nation – the Magi Dynasty Thalion – to visit her private resort island. As the group enjoys their brief vacation, a mysterious woman named Yura appears. A new incident unfolds against the backdrop of the boundless azure sea.
