After a four-year serialization, the You Can’t Be in a Rom-Com with Your Childhood Friends! manga by Shinya Misu is ending in three chapters. The manga’s X account announced that the last three chapters will conclude the story.

Kodansha’s Manga Pocket website begain serializing the Osananajimi to wa Rabu Kome ni Naranai manga since March 2022. In that time Kodansha has compiled the manga into 20 tankobon volumes. While there’s no English print version of You Can’t Be in a Rom-Com with Your Childhood Friends!, Kodansha’s K Manga releases the English EPUB version of the manga.
Tezuka Productions, known for their work on The Quintessential Quintuplets and The Café Terrace and Its Goddesses, adapted the manga into a winter 2026 TV anime. Crunchyroll currently streams dubbed and subbed versions of the anime. Aniplus Asia and Bahamut Anime Crazy broadcast the anime in their respective regions.
You Can’t Be in a Rom-Com with Your Childhood Friends! follows the romantic life of Yonosuke Sakai. Despite his collected demeanor, Yonosuke-kun is a hopeless romantic who spends way too much time reading childhood friend rom-com manga. But as he has four childhood friends of his own, he tries to hide his love for rom-coms. Yet when Yonosuke and his closest osananajimi, Akari and Shio, enter high school, Yonosuke can’t help but think about living a real-life rom-com with them! But how can he make a move without destroying the friendships he so cherishes?
