What is The Heike Story

The Tale of the Heike is originally an epic of medieval Japanese literature, and it covers the battles of the Taira and Minamoto clans for control of Japan during the Genpei War (1180 – 1185). It has been an inspiration for centuries, and has also received many translations and interpretations over the time. The TV anime will focus on Biwa, a storyteller girl, who meets Taira no Shigemori, heir to his clan, and eventually gives him a prophecy of his clan’s downfall.

Aoi Yuuki voices Biwa, with Takahiro Sakurai voicing Taira. Hayami Saori voices Tokuko, and Tesshō Genda voices Kiyomori. The rest of the cast includes Kikuko Inoue, Miyu Irino, Yumiko Kobayashi, Nobuhiko Okamoto, Natsuki Hanae, Ayumu Murase, Kioutaro Nishiyama, Nobuyuki Hiyama, Subaru Kimura, Miyazaki Yuu, Inori Minase, Tomokazu Sugita, and Yuki Kaji.
