Aniplex announced on October 24 that anime studio CloverWorks is producing an original anime Tokyo 24-ku, or Tokyo Twenty Fourth Ward. The release date is set for January 2022. A key visual, cast information, and a teaser trailer were also revealed.

CloverWorks, an anime production studio under Aniplex, will handle another upcoming anime, Akebi’s Sailor Uniform which is also set to air in Winter 2022 season.
Tsuda Naokatsu (Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure (2012) director) will direct the anime, with, Nitroplus‘s Shimokura Vio who is writing the script and doing series composition. FiFS (Sogabe Shuji and Nonokanako duo), the character designer for The Idolmaster SideM, is listed as the original character designer, while Kishida Takahiro (character designer in Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure Golden Wind) will design the characters for the anime. In addition, Fukasawa Hideyuki (Fate/stay night [Unlimited Blade Works]) will take care of the music.
Cast
As for the cast, Enoki Junya, who voiced Mukai Naoya in Girlfriend, Girlfriend last season, will be Shuta. Likewise, Uchida Yuma, who was Walter in The Duke of Death and His Maid in Summer 2021, will give breath to Ran. Ishikawa Kaito, who is the voice of Uryu Kanade in the ongoing anime series Platinum End, will play Kouki.

Plot
The official website describes the plot as:
Artificial island off the coast of Tokyo bay – They call it “the 24th Ward”.
Shuta, Ran, and Kouki grew up there and had different social statuses, hobbies, and personalities, but always hung out together in their childhood. But an incident made a huge impact on their relationship.

At a mass event that commemorates the incident’s first anniversary, they happen to reunite and their phones ring suddenly at the same time. They receive a call from their friends who should have died, asking for a choice for the future. And thus they will, on their own right way, try to protect their beloved 24th ward and people.
